Capital Ambition’s Improvement and Efficiency Strategy for London 2008-2012

The National Improvement and Efficiency Strategy was published on 21 December 2007.  It set out a framework for improvement and efficiency work over the next three years and also the work that will be carried out by the new Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnerships (RIEPs). The London RIEP is known as Capital Ambition.

London’s Improvement and Efficiency Strategy has been developed with input from the LGA Improvement Board and Chief Executives Task Group, and agreed with CLG.  Ministerial approval was given on 18 March 2008, with initial allocations of funds agreed in time for work programmes to begin in April.

Our ambitions are set out in the documents below. Appreciating the range of interests we have provided a one and eight page summaries and the full strategy, amounting to 65 pages. We are excited about these new stages in our journey. We believe that the vision we set out here is ambitious, and that it will be challenging to our partners in central government and in the inspectorates. But it will also be challenging for us to deliver. In doing so, we will be able to maintain our duty to all Londoners to make their public services beacons of improvement and efficiency.
